Why We Built StoneLoads

Last Tuesday we launched StoneLoads nationwide. It was a moment our team had worked toward for more than a year. Countless meetings, long nights, rigorous technology testing, and many miles traveled finally got us to the spot where we felt we could lift the curtain on this marketplace that we hope yields business wins for all of our natural stone peers across the United States. 

Over the next few months, we’ll be working steadily to onboard as many quarries, fabricators, and landscape supply yards as possible, so they can reap the benefits of this new way to buy and sell natural stone. As our friend Tony Mueller at Buechel Stone said, StoneLoads is a “game changer.” 

We believe he’s right, and here’s why we decided to invest so much time and attention to this platform.

Right moment, needed solution

Name an industry, and there’s a strong chance that an online marketplace already exists in it. In the natural stone space, though, we have no well-functioning similar option — until now. There are numerous success stories in the natural stone industry, but even the most renowned organizations have achieved their status with one hand tied behind their backs. 

A lack of transparency related to product availability and pricing has relegated most buying and selling networks to regional boundaries and personal connections. While those have gotten us collectively to where we are today, we firmly believe that an online option will serve as an incredibly useful tool in expanding networks from coast to coast. 

Simply put, we’ve all needed StoneLoads, and there’s no better time than now to introduce it. 

Disruption within the existing framework

In the entrepreneurial world, you hear the word “disruption” all the time. We see StoneLoads as a disruptor. But unlike popular disruptors like Uber and Airbnb, we aim to elevate the existing industry framework, as opposed to toppling it. We want what we’ve built to empower buyers and sellers by expanding their business reach, offering unrivaled product transparency, strengthening industry relationships, and providing the most seamless transaction experience imaginable.
